Oil States MCS Limited has been
involved in the offshore structural construction industry since its
incorporation in 1979 when it was known as BUE Hydra-Lok Ltd. Subsequent owners
of the company, through North Sea Assets PLC and Hunting Oilfield Services
(International) Ltd. led to its acquisition in May 1996 by Oil States Industries
Inc. of Arlington, Texas, U.S.A.
During this period the company
has progressed extensively in the services and products it provides. From the
early '80's when the only service provided was that of the Hydra-Lok® pile
swage connection facility for small subsea structures, enhancement, development
and partnerships have resulted in the company expanding within the construction
industry and entering the maintenance, repair and decommissioning sectors of the
industry.
Construction now includes
Hydra-Lok® pile-to-structure connections for subsea structures and
jackets secured by means of large diameter piles and the Hydra-Lok Lite®
system for connection of lightweight subsea structures. Allied with the
Latch-Lok Levelling System which has been in operation since 1991 a complete
levelling and connection package can be offered to the installation contractor.
Taking this one stage further Oil States MCS Limited can also enhance the
available installation package by supplying Hydra-Lok® sleeves and
Latch-Lok latch rings for integration into the structure.
Oil States MCS Limited moved into
the decommissioning and maintenance markets in 1996, firstly, with the operation
of the Houston developed Abrasive Cutting system for platform removal, and
secondly the adaptation of the Hydra-Lok® Swaging System to repair
corroded and damaged caissons on offshore installations.
Furthermore the Abrasive Cutting
system has been adapted and developed for use in the fields of repair and
maintenance both onshore and offshore, and the Hydra-Lok® Swaging
system has been developed for downhole pressure testing and casing repairs.
